As women, we often judge ourselves based on the accomplishments of others. There’s no doubt that some women are innately driven, possessing what appears to be the perfect blend of perpetual motivation and the ability to achieve great things on very little sleep. The truth is, we all have inherent qualities that, when nurtured, can help pave the way to our individual definitions of success. As Theodore Roosevelt once said, “Comparison is the thief of joy.” It’s much easier to enjoy and appreciate our own successes when we’re not consumed by the fear of not living up to other women’s standards.

Below we share a list of characteristics and traits we see to be common amongst successful powerhouse women. You ’ll likely notice that you possess some of them with little effort, while others may seem just out of reach. Simply becoming aware of these qualities and making an effort to stretch yourself and cultivate them can, lead to future ability to create sustainable success:

1. Visionary

(a compelling one): One thing that stands out the most as an admirable characteristic for Kingdom-led powerhouse women is an obvious compelling vision! This is vision driven by a clear purpose, mission, and Kingdom agenda, and one that is built on deeply inspiring values and a larger-than-life outlook. There’s no successful woman who doesn’t have a strong compelling vision (and mission) that continues to drive her towards building sustainable success for herself and others.

2. Passionate:

When you ’re deeply passionate about what you ’re doing, it’s much easier to find the drive and determination to carry on. While skills and experience may look great on a resume, they aren’t likely to catapult you to the next level. Adding passion to our vision and mission makes the sky a stepping stone!

3. Assertiveness:

Tapping into your inner assertiveness will help you build confidence and begin setting boundaries, which is essential to your dream life and success that is sustainable. A great place to start is by learning to say no and becoming aware of how often you say,“I’m sorry.” As women, we tend to ask for forgiveness when an apology isn’t necessary. Assertiveness is not arrogance or rudeness, it is giving yourself permission to choose you first, stick to your vision, and exercise the audacity to thrive against whatever odds may present themselves.

4. Empathy:

Many people believe empathy is a weakness, and that it’s worse in women. In reality, it’s one of our strongest innate strengths. Empathy allows us to relate to others from an emotionally intelligent standpoint. Empathetic women are often highly intuitive, which can be a wonderful trait in any situation where interpersonal interaction is required. It is the wind most powerhouse women glide on to build strong relationships for growth and success.

5. Authenticity:

The Ability To Embrace Imperfections and Leverage our Uniqueness. Dwelling on bad decisions and past mistakes zaps energy that could be better used elsewhere. No one gets it right 100% of the time, and expecting perfection almost always leads to disappointment and perceived failure. Successful Powerhouse Women know how to use their imperfections, mistakes, and uniqueness to our advantage and to drive success in the long-run.

6 Confidence:

Learning to believe in yourself is one of the most powerful factors in achieving success on your own terms as a powerhouse woman. Just be sure  not to base your self-worth on your achievements – don’t let ego get in the way of your journey to more!

7. Courage:

Nothing gives a powerhouse woman wings to soar like courage! It is impossible to build, achieve and maintain success without courage. It requires putting ourselves out there. This often demands us to step outside our comfort zones as well as even taking risks, or doing things with boldness. Our signature #LeadingWithBoldness Masterclass is for every woman who is looking to ignite her spark of audacity and thrive beyond fear, failures, and frustrations.

8. Flexibility and Resilience:

Life will always throw us curveballs. Learning to adapt is one key to attaining sustainable success and preserving sanity. Inflexibility causes stress, which can hinder success and lead to a host of physical and mental health problems.

9. Gratitude:

What do our successes really mean if we don’t appreciate them and the drive it took to achieve them? Gratitude can make us more appreciative of the mentors and coworkers who help us reach our goals, resulting in a more pleasant work environment, radiant living, and positive attitude. Powerhouse Women are constantly looking for the bright side of life, and know just how to leverage the power of gratitude to keep going and build success that lasts.
